The American Italian Renaissance Foundation Museum and Library is comprised of many parts. The Hall of Honor consists of seven elegantly hand painted and lettered plaques designed and executed by the world famous New Orleans artist Franco Alessandri as well as hold an authentic Sicilian Cart. The Library houses The Giovanni Schiavo Collection, the world's most significant collection of American Italian history by Giovanni Schiavo as well as a living tape library, newspapers, vertical files, music library, and naturalization records. The Museum contains history of Italian Americans in the Southeast and their contributions to all areas of our daily lives through photographs, articles, family histories, and memorabilia. The musuem memorabilia are displayed on different walls identified and categorized by themes such as Societies and Festivals, Music, the Immigrant, Geneology, Personalities, and much more. Finally , there is the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame which was formed to recognize the Italian Americans of Louisiana who, for generations, have participated and excelled in the sports arena. Through the efforts of the LAISHF, the contributions of Italian American sports became a means to escape the ghettos by using their God-given talents. Athletics, sportsmanship, and exemplary moral character were for years synonymous.
